There's a new addition to Sir Elton John's circle of life! The legendary musician, 65, and husband David Furnish are the proud parents of a brand-new baby boy, Elijah Joseph Daniel Furnish-John, they announced to Britain's Hello! magazine on Tuesday Jan. 15. Born via surrogate in Los Angeles last Friday Jan. 11, Elijah arrived weighing a healthy 8lb 4oz.
The rock 'n roll tyke joins big brother Zachary, whose December 2010 birth was first revealed exclusively by Us Weekly. "Both of us have longed to have children, but the reality that we now have two sons is almost unbelievable," John and Furnish, 50, tell HELLO! "The birth of our second son completes our family in a most precious and perfect way. It is difficult to fully express how we are feeling at this time; we are just overwhelmed with happiness and excitement."
After 12 years together, the "I'm Still Standing" singer wed Furnish in 2005, and have longed to get a sibling for their firstborn. "I think it’s difficult to be an only child, and to be an only child of someone famous," John said. "I want Zachary to have a sibling."
"For many years we have talked about fulfilling one of our greatest wishes by becoming parents," John told Us shortly after Zachary's Christmas Day 2010 birth, also via surrogate. "And now this wish has been granted to us, we feel so blessed and lucky."
