Guess she meant it when she said the Met Gala "sucked!"
Gwyneth Paltrow skipped the annual fashion event which took place on Monday, May 4 at New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art for the second year in a row. And sharing a rare photo of her daughter Apple via Instagram on Tuesday, May 5 the actress showed fans what she was up to as most other A-listers were strutting their their stuff on the Gala's red carpet.
"This was my red carpet!" the consciously uncoupled actress captioned the picture which showed her daughter, Apple, 10, striking a pose while crouching down against a white wall, dressed in a blue onesie accessorized with a pair of hilarious monster feet slippers.
Paltrow seemed very happy with her choice to spend the evening home with her kids, rather than rubbing shoulders with her A-list pals like Beyonce, who caused a frenzy with her sheer Givenchy gown at the annual bash hosted by Vogue editor Anna Wintour.
Another Gala invitee Paltrow, 42, missed on the red carpet was Jennifer Lawrence, 24, who co-chaired the event and wowed in an embroidered, sequined dress by Dior Haute Couture. Lawrence and Paltrow's ex, Chris Martin, have been dating on and off since the Coldplay singer's marriage fell apart last year.
The Iron Man actress was very vocal about her feelings towards the Met Gala back in 2013. After declaring to USA Today that she would never attend the event again, she then elaborated during an interview with Australian radio hosts Kyle and Jackie O.
"Do you want me to be honest? It sucked!" she said, when asked what the event had been like. "You always think, 'Oh my god, it’s gonna be so glamorous and amazing and you’re going to see all these people,' and then you get there and it’s so hot and it’s so crowded and everyone’s pushing you," she said.
