Jenna Dewan has a lot on her plate when it comes to her career, but she told Us Weekly at the Las Vegas Magazine‘s 15th anniversary party that her favorite role is taking care of her child, Everly.

“Everly is the love of my life, I love being her mom. She is so energetic and creative,” Dewan told Us on Friday, May 18, at the Red Rock Casino, Resort and Spa. “She’s going through a destructive phase because she loves taking things apart and putting something else together, creating. She wants to explore and transform everything around her.”

The 4-year-old used her creativity for her Mother’s Day present. “It was wonderful. I was with my mom and my daughter in New York,” the World of Dance host shared. “They came, we had a big slumber party and she woke me up to show me that she’d made me a card. It was really cute. I couldn’t believe how cute it was. She put stickers and signed her name and she wrote the year. So, that’s being kept forever.”

Dewan, 37, said her daughter, whom she shares with ex Channing Tatum, doesn’t need a special occasion to make her sweet gifts. “She’s very creative and crafty. She’s always making something for me. I have a slew of things hanging in my trailer: pictures or necklaces. She likes to take anything and make something from it,” she added. “Lots of repurposed artwork happening at home.”

Everly’s creative side comes in handy when Dewan needs to keep her entertained during long flights. “That child has been on a plane since she was 6 weeks old with me and she’s given me the whole gamut when it comes to trips, from great to ugh,” she said. “I am a well-oiled mama machine when it comes to traveling with a toddler. Now they have these coloring books that are scratchable so you don’t have to keep track of a bunch of crayons. We’re really into those.”

She continued: “It’s like a having a Mary Poppins bag. I just go: ‘Hey, have you seen this? How about this?’ New things are always exciting and God bless Steve Jobs and his iPad because that just gets us through lots of rough flights.”

Dewan, who recently separated from Tatum, said at the event that her main focus is being a mother, telling reporters: “Everly is great. She’s my top priority, everything else flows from that.”

The former couple, who tied the knot in 2009, announced their separation in April in a joint statement via social media. “We want to share the truth so that if you didn’t read it here then it’s most certainly fiction. We have lovingly chosen to separate as a couple,” the statement read. “We fell deeply in love so many years ago and have had a magical journey together. Absolutely nothing has changed about how much we love one another, but love is a beautiful adventure that is taking us on different paths for now.”
