Sew fab!

Katie Holmes is one of the most fashionable celebs in Hollywood, but few realize she is among the craftiest too.

The actress, 32, "sews aprons for the girls, pillows, tablecloths, Barbie clothes," she recently told New York Magazine while in Manhattan promoting the sophomore season of Holmes & Yang, the fashion line she started with her stylist Jeanne Yang.

"My mom grew up making curtains and pillows and everything and it made our home very warm, so I like to do things like that with my daughter," she told Women's Wear Daily. "My husband [Tom Cruise] got me a sewing machine for my birthday."

She spends most of her time on the road working, but she has managed to pack some of the comforts of home for her daughter Suri, 4. "Bring lots of crayons, glue, good paper and you can turn any room into a very warm, familial place," she said.

And Suri, a fashion icon in her own right, makes sure to help her mom out too: "She'll really tell me what she thinks," Holmes has said. "'You've got to wear these shoes.' Or 'That's so pretty, Mom. Wear that.' She's got a great eye."

I love Suri to death. She is the most adorable little girl. No one has any right to tell them how to raise their child. What most people don't seem to realize, perhaps too busy JUDGING, the way they raise Suri is a part of their religion. Have a problem with that? Get out of the U.S. We have a right to freedom of religion. That means even religions you don't agree with. I'm more than sure that everyone would be able to find fault with everyone else's way of raising their children, in some way or another. So, she's got a pacifier and wears nightgowns out to shop. So what? I used a bottle after I was weaned, until around six, whenever I was sick, which was fairly often, because I found it comforting while I was in a lot of pain and discomfort. And I still wear pajamas out everywhere. I work graveyard shifts, and I like to be comfortable while I'm home during the day. Who cares if a five year old wears pajamas out? And another thing. The people who make disparaging comments about Scientology? Nine times out of ten they haven't done one whit of research into the religion itself. If we believed everything the tabloid's print, we'd all be convinced that Jennifer Aniston now has ten adopted children.

Really? Is Katie still trying to get us to believe that Suri has designed her clothes since she was big enough to hold up a pair of scissors, or is this just another recycled comment from 18 months ago? I think it's nice that Katie is trying to raise Suri the way she was raised. I just wish she would try to raise Suri more like the Beckham boys who are not in the papers daily because their parents do not go out to eat for nearly every meal they. If i see another picture of Suri shopping in a nightgown i think I'll throwup. Anne
