Max Greenfield brought a very special lady to the Milk & Bookies 3rd Annual Story Time Celebration in Los Angeles Sunday: his 2-year-old daughter, Lily.

The New Girl star, 31, opened up to Us Weekly about sharing books with his daughter, as well as little Lily's fixation on letters and numbers. "We're really into [both]," Greenfield told Us. "She's not reading yet--but she is only 2!"

The actor says his first child (with wife Tess Sanchez) is starting to get a handle on the alphabet--a big cause for celebration in his household.

"It is crazy…it's our first kid, and all of a sudden, she identifies letters as what they are, and you go, 'This kid is a genius--she's obviously some sort of savant!'" Greenfield joked.

The precocious toddler has also picked up on the fact that her dad isn't like most. Says Greenfield, "There's a [New Girl] billboard when [we're driving to work]. She'll see [it] and say, 'Daddy, Daddy!' and then she'll open up a magazine and say, 'I don't understand why Dad is not in this magazine!'"

"That can't be good," the former Ugly Betty star laughed. "The odds of her being a well-adjusted human being are low."

Though Greenfield is still hard at work filming new episodes of New Girl alongside costars Zooey Deschanel and Jake M. Johnson, the actor told Us he's got big plans for the show's summer hiatus.

On his agenda?

"I'm going to be Dad and just chill out. We'll go to the park," Greenfield shared. "Lily likes running errands. She likes to be an active participant…she thinks she's an adult. She's one of those!"
