Adele is known for being a pretty private person, but in the March issue of Vogue, the “Hello” singer opens up about her life as a parent, her weight loss and her longtime boyfriend, Simon Konecki.
“I can’t have any other junk in my head to worry about as well,” she said of learning to prioritize as a mom. “[Angelo] makes me very proud of myself. When I became a parent, I felt like I was truly living. I had a purpose, where before I didn’t … My main thing is Mum, then it’s me, then it’s work. I think I had to take the right amount of time off to let people miss me.”
The 27-year-old British singer released her third studio album, 25, this past fall, causing a pandemonium among her fans, who had been long awaiting the follow-up to 2011’s hit 21.
The singer is now all too aware of the passage of time, she told Vogue, and how things have changed since she wrote 21 — and before that, 2008’s 19.
“I was just shocked that all of a sudden I was 25!” she said of one day writing her age in a notebook. “But actually, I like myself more than ever. I feel so comfortable in my own skin. I really like how I look, I like who I am, I like everyone that I surround myself with.”
In the time between 21 and 25, Adele met Konecki, the CEO of Drop4Drop, and the pair welcomed their baby boy Angelo in October 2012. (“When I met Simon, I knew that something was going to happen,” she said, adding that Angelo was conceived “the day the last Vogue cover came out!”)
Now, the stunning songstress said, she is focused on staying healthy and being fit in anticipation for her tour, which kicks off at the end of February.
“I was trying to get some stamina for my tour, so I lost a bit of weight,” she said. “Now I fit into normal, off-the-shelf clothes — which is really a big problem for me!”
