The sounds of love. Adele opened up about her boyfriend Simon Konecki in a candid interview with Australia’s 60 Minutes on Sunday, Nov. 22, calling their four-year relationship “amazing.”
“Being in such an amazing relationship with someone that’s so there for me and so loyal and is really part of my core now, that’s what made me write about everything I’ve ever done, because I’ve got his love,” she told 60 Minutes’ Liz Hayes. “I know that sounds a bit like I’m trying to write a Hollywood movie, but it’s only because of him and because of our kid and stuff that I’m all right.”
The famously private 27-year-old British songstress and Konecki, a charity entrepreneur, have been dating since 2011, and have one child together, son Angelo, 3.
“He cares about me more than anything,” she said, “but he doesn’t care about the style of music that I make and stuff like that and he just loved it [her new album, 25].”
The “Hello” singer added that her style for her most recent album, which dropped on Friday, Nov. 20, is a departure from her previous album, 21, which was received as the ultimate breakup album, inspired by the singer’s own heartbreaking split.
“Before, I used to really get comfy in that area of despair,” she said. “But I realized how much junk there was — memories I was holding onto, and memories are wonderful, but a lot of them I don’t need to hold onto.”
Adele called herself an “emotional hoarder,” but added that her stage in life right now begs her to be less “miserable.”
“I’m a mum, I’m a girlfriend, I’m a friend, and stuff like that,” she said. “I’m ready to go into the complete new chapter of my life. …I’ve grown up.”
