Alexa Ray Joel Called 911 Herself: "Took Pills. Want to Die"

The daughter of singer Billy Joel and model Christie Brinkley dialed 911 herself after popping a handful of homeopathic pills Saturday, according to the New York Post.
"Took pills. Want to die," Alexa Ray Joel, 23, told the dispatcher, the Post claims.

Allegedly distraught over a recent breakup, she swallowed eight tablets of Traumeel, an herbal alternative to ibuprofen, which were incapable of killing her. But she still panicked and called the emergency line to get help, sources told the Post.

According to the Post, EMS workers soon received a message from the 911 dispatcher saying: "Female caller. Took eight pills. Wants to die. Now feels funny. Wants to live," sources said.

They rushed her to St. Vincent's Hospital in New York City's Greenwich Village, where she was later released.
She "is going to be fine," her dad, Billy Joel, told reporters late Saturday.
Alexa Ray is now staying with her father after the pill scare.

I did the same thing for some loser I thought I was in love with when I was 17... I had the pills in my hand, but didn't take them. Glad I didn't go thru w/ it for many reasons. My life is so normal and loving now and he's still a loser...
Constance - It is sad you are going through all of these trials of life right now, however, do not judge others until you have walked in their shoes. You have no clue what this young lady is going through in her life. Everybody has their hurdles to climb. Do you know her personally? I'm guessing the answer is no - so don't speak ignorantly. If you have nothing to say that is encouraging and positive, please do not post - I actually had an aunt that took her life - so I do not take this subject lightly. How horrible to feel as though you are so desperate that you feel ending your life is the only option. If you can't have sympathy, please keep your digustingly hateful comments to yourself.

I am appalled, shocked, and disgusted at some of the insensitive, apathetic comments that some people are making. Alexa seems like a really sweet, genuine girl and to make light of whatever stresses she's going through because she's rich or your own problems seem so much worse in comparison is such a perfect example of how self-involved and devoid of empathy the human race can be. Leave this poor girl alone. You don't know her or what she's gone through. What, she's rich so she can't go through hard times? Nonsense! Alexa has never come across as spoiled or bratty, not to mention she's a great talent, sooooo much better than most of the talentless twits who make it on the radio. I'm praying for her, and everyone else should too.
