Amy Schumer knows that for many princesses, the story is not exactly happily ever after. The comedienne, 34, recruited Tim Gunn for an Inside Amy Schumer bit, debuting her own trailer for a fairy tale called Princess Amy.
The Comedy Central clip, which made its way online on Wednesday, June 24, opens with Schumer as a peasant girl living in a cabin on a remote hilltop. As she is shown doing chores and singing to herself, a narrator reads, "Amy was just a regular, ordinary girl in the Kingdom of Agribar, until one day, her most impossible dreams came true."
Gunn makes his big entrance as Willenby, Amy's "royal attaché." "It's time you knew the truth," he tells the star. "You're not a disgusting, filthy commoner at all! You're a princess!"
The lowly commoner then transforms, slipping into an embellished gown complete with cartoon bird friends, sporting a tiara on her curled blonde locks, and crooning that she "deserves this castle." The dream life takes a turn, however, when Willenby introduces Amy to her prince.
She scoffs at her betrothed (played by Schumer in a beard) and expresses her dismay that she doesn't get to choose her own leading man. "Prince Gilligan here is actually your first cousin," Willenby explains, stressing the importance of maintaining the purity of the bloodline.
Princess Amy's fairy tale only deteriorates from there, as she resists Prince Gilligan, fails to produce male heirs, and is finally laid with her head on the chopping block.
