The Buford, Georgia-based mom — who recounted the incident during an October 21 interview with Inside Edition — sent in photos (taken by Crystal Barbee) of her son to a modeling agency after they put out an open casting call for the baby brand.

Weeks after sending in three impossibly cute photos of her little guy and hearing no response, Meagan reached out to the agency for feedback.

“Something in my gut told me to reach out to them, because I couldn’t believe that he hasn’t gotten at least one call from them,” she told Inside Edition.

The agency told her that they never submitted Asher to Carter’s because the company hadn’t “requested a special needs baby.”

“I sat back all confused,” Meagan explained. “I immediately wrote a well-thought-out message explaining to them my son had every right to be considered.”

The agency apologized and assured her that they would submit Asher for future opportunities whether clients asked for special needs children or not.

Meagan went on to share her and Asher’s story on the family’s Facebook page, Asher’s Down Right Perfect, and it was picked up by popular Facebook page Kids With Down Syndrome. Since then, Asher’s dilemma has been shared by more than 125,000 people.

OshKosh B’gosh took notice and released a statement to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution on Friday, saying that the company had plans to meet with the Nash family.

“We agree there is an opportunity for greater representation of children with special needs in advertising,” the statement read. “We look forward to meeting with Asher and his family, as well as taking steps to enhance the representation of diverse children in our marketing.”

Meagan tells Us that she and her family met with the company on Tuesday, October 25, and that they are excited about the outcome.

“We had our meeting with OshKosh yesterday. We would like to let everyone know that they will know the outcome of the meeting very soon! The after story will be on ABC ‘World News Tonight’ with David Muir on Friday,” she says, adding that she never intended to shed the company in a negative light: “My goal was to spread awareness about the issue and my hopes were for OshKosh and many more brands to start including people with disabilities in their brand. The world is always changing and so is our perception of people with Down syndrome and other disabilities.”
