A source reveals in the new issue of Us Weekly that the exchange was a genuine one, and that the country superstars were just having some fun.

"This was not a deliberate plan to show some kind of unified front," the insider tells Us of the "Somethin' Bad" singer, 31, and The Voice coach, 39, who battled rumors of infidelity and marital troubles throughout their four-year union.

Fans weren't convinced — one questioned whether the tweets, about mutual pal Ashley Monroe's new album, were preset — but Shelton made it clear that he didn't care. In response to one follower who criticized the conversation as a "charade," the crooner tweeted, "Well rest assured not one s–t is given."

Indeed, Lambert and her ex traded jokes for nearly an hour, just like they used to when they were married.

"There are no hard feelings," the insider says. "They want to move on as friends, and they are doing just that."
