Who knew? Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton actually do have a lot in common — including a love of horses. The No Doubt singer gushed in January about her new horse, Halo, who she called her "best present ever," and her boyfriend confirmed on Tuesday, March 1, that the pony was a gift from him.
"I got her a horse and I got myself a horse at the same time," Shelton, 39, told Entertainment Tonight's Nancy O'Dell. "Gwen, she loves riding and she loves horses. It's actually so funny that people are so shocked by that, but if you can name me one girl on the planet that doesn't love horses or just think that they are beautiful ..."
The couple, whose romance began when they worked together last year on The Voice, are set to reunite on the hit singing competition this season when the No Doubt singer, 46, returns as a mentor for Team Blake.
Shelton said inviting her to work with his singers was a no-brainer.
"I looked at my phone, like somebody from NBC said, 'Hey, you need to pick a mentor for this season,'" he said. "I am like [as he turns his head to the side], 'Hey, you want to be my mentor this season?' She's like, 'Sure.' [I said] 'OK, Gwen said she will do it.'"
The lovebirds, whose rep confirmed exclusively to Us Weekly last November that they were dating, are clearly fans of each other's music — Stefani was spotted visiting the "Sangria" singer in the studio, and he was seen in the background of the video for her song "Make Me Like You," which she's admitted is about Shelton.
The pair have been inseparable since going public with their romance and spent the past weekend together as they celebrated the wedding of former Voice contestant RaeLynn Woodward, and then attended the Vanity Fair Oscar party on Sunday, February 28. So it's no surprise to hear Shelton singing Stefani's praises as a mentor on The Voice.
"You talk about a legendary musical icon," Shelton said. "And somebody who has been a coach on that show, you know? So nobody knows the ins and outs when it comes to mentoring like Gwen does. She has been there for a couple of seasons. She has made it to the finale and so she knows how to talk to these people, what they need to know, you know. And it was the easiest ask ever."
