Sorry, Biebs! Britney Spears once ran into Justin Bieber when he was a (very famous) boy and not yet a man, and had no idea who he was. The “Clumsy” singer recalled the hilarious story during an interview with BBC Radio 1 on Wednesday, August 24. Hear what she said in the video above!
“I met him probably three years ago, and he walked into my hotel room, and he was a kid. Literally, he looked like he was 13 years old but he was 16,” Spears, 34, told host Scott Mills. “And I was like, ‘Who is this kid in my hotel? What is going on?’ And his mom [Pattie Mallette] was like, ‘Is there a suntanning bed located here?’ And I’m like, ‘Who are these people?’”
“He’s very unassuming,” she added. “He’s a very, very nice, kind boy.”
Spears has seen a lot more of Bieber, 22, since then. Earlier this month, like everyone else on the internet, she got a gander at those nude photos (in which he went skinny-dipping with models in Hawaii).
“Did you see what happened to him the other day?” she asked Mills. “Like, didn’t he expose himself? That was insane! I don’t understand what went on there.”
Spears called up Mills from her Nevada hotel room. The “Make Me …” singer continues to perform in her Planet Hollywood Las Vegas residency and is gearing up to hit the stage at the MTV Video Music Awards in NYC on Sunday, August 28.
Spears now has a new hotel buddy. Elton John performs close by at his own residency show at Caesars Palace. “Outside my room is a beautiful garden. Elton John lives across the way from me and we all live here. It’s a quaint little place,” she added on Thursday. “I’m not sure what room number he is, but I saw him a couple of months ago going into his car.”
