Canadian Immigration Website Crashes and World Market Drops as Donald Trump Surges

Canada is more popular than ever! The Canadian immigration website crashed on Tuesday, November, 8, and the world markets dropped as Donald Trump surged in the 2016 presidential election.

Users trying to access www.cic.gc.ca were met with an internal server error, sparking speculation that the site had been inundated with people desperately trying to research ways to leave America.

Twitter was on fire with comments about the crash, and Google also reported massive spikes in search terms such as "emigrate" and "how to emigrate to Canada."

As Trump votes poured in, and he took the lead from Hillary Clinton, the world markets also took a hit with the Dow plunging and the U.S. dollar tanking.

Canada’s official Twitter page appeared to reference Trump’s likely move into the White House with a message that read: “In Canada, immigrants are encouraged to bring their cultural traditions with them and share them with their fellow citizens.”

The country has been praised for taking in refugees from around the world in recent months.

Several celebrities have insisted they’ll move across the border if the Republican candidate wins, including Lena Dunham, Barbra Streisand and Bryan Cranston.
