Broadway, get ready for Cheryl Burke . . . and all that jazz!
The Dancing with the Stars vet is currently in negotiations to play the lead role of Roxie Hart in Chicago on Broadway during the TV show's hiatus, a source confirms exclusively to Usmagazine.com.
Burke, 25, submitted an audition tape in Los Angeles last week. "People don't see her as a singer," the source concedes, "but she trained for her audition with one of the top vocal coaches in L.A."
She wouldn't be the first DWTS alum to kick up her heels in the Tony-winning revival: host Samantha Harris played Roxie for six weeks in the summer of this year. In the Oscar-winning film adaptation of Chicago, Renee Zellweger played the part of the scheming ingenue.
The dancer, whose celebrity partner Tom Delay left the show after an injury in September, attended a performance of the show Monday night, and has another incentive to grace the Great White Way: "she's excited about the prospect of spending the holidays in New York," says the source. "That's where her boyfriend [model Maxwell Zagorski] is based."
