Chicago Cubs Heading to First World Series in 71 Years: Hillary Clinton, LeBron James and More Celebrate

What a game! The Chicago Cubs defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers 5–0 in Game 6 of the National League Championship series on Saturday, October 22, advancing the MLB team to its first World Series in 71 years.

The Cubs celebrated the historic win at home at Wrigley Field. The National League team, which last appeared in the World Series in 1945, will face off against the Cleveland Indians in Game 1 on Tuesday, October 25.

Following Saturday night's win, Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel released a statement celebrating the Cubs, saying, "Incredible. Absolutely incredible. The Chicago Cubs are National League champions. Across Chicago and around the world, generations of Cubs fans, from the very young to the very, very old, are celebrating tonight. Rightfully so. We are witnessing history right before our eyes. Wrigley was rocking all night, and our Cubs just won the pennant. So fly the W Chicago, the fun continues in Cleveland on Tuesday night. Go Cubs!"

Numerous celebrities were also thrilled for the team, sharing congratulatory messages on social media.

ABC News shared a photo of the moment Hillary Clinton learned that the Cubs were advancing on its Twitter account. In the shot, the Democratic presidential nominee, 68, stands inside her private campaign jet and looks at her cellphone with her mouth wide open in amazement.

Chicago Bulls shooting guard Dwyane Wade tweeted fellow NBA star LeBron James, writing, "Cubbies congrats on the WORLD SERIES!!! I definitely came back at the right time.… Let's talk!!! #WorldSeriesConvo," to which James replied, "Absolutely!! We're placing a nice bet and more on this one my friend! #WorldSeries #RallyTogether."

Singer Josh Groban also celebrated the win, tweeting, "Well I'm sorry for my Dodgers but can the Cubs PLEASE win the World Series now? Can we have ONE good thing this year?"
