Chris Brown’s Arrest on Suspicion of Assault: Everything We Know

Another controversy. Chris Brown was arrested in L.A. on Tuesday, August 30, for suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon. The Grammy-winning singer was released on bail on Tuesday night, but the woman at the center of it all — Baylee Curran — continues to tell her side of the story.

Here is everything we know surrounding the incident so far:

Police Swarm Brown’s Home
Tuesday, 3 a.m.

Authorities responded to the R&B star’s home in Tarzana, California, after Curran accused him of threatening her with a gun inside the residence. Brown’s 2-year-old daughter, Royalty, and pals such as Ray J, were reportedly at the residence at the time.

According to TMZ, Brown threatened Curran, a guest in his home at the time, over a piece of jewelry. While admiring the piece, Brown allegedly demanded that she “get the f–k out.” She claims he pulled a gun on her and she was kicked out. She refused to sign a nondisclosure agreement.

Brown Takes to Instagram
Tuesday, between 3-4 a.m.

The entertainer posted about the situation while the LAPD surrounded his estate. “So I’m asleep half the damn night, and I wake up, all these motherf—ing helicopters is around, police out there at the gate. … What the f–k else y’all want from me, bro? … I’m way too tired to be dealing with this bulls–t,” he said in a series of since-deleted videos. “I’m innocent. F–k errbody. … I ain’t did s–t, I ain’t gon’ do s–t, and it’s always gon’ be f–k the police.”

Brown’s neighbor Jillian Barberie tweeted about all the noise. “This helicopter over @chrisbrown ‘s house for 3 hours is starting to drive me crazy!!” she wrote. “He said there’s nothing going on. Pls leave.”

Ray J Supports His Friend
Tuesday, around 2 p.m.

Amid the scandal, the rapper (and Kim Kardashian‘s 2003 sex tape partner) posted a video about Brown via Instagram. “I’m real upset about today. … I’m not happy with how things are handled and how people can take a false story and blow it up into something way more than what it should be. We got, just positive people around, and you look outside and it’s like a war zone for no reason, for something some stranger said about something that don’t got nothing to do with nothing. And to react like that, so fast without really knowing the facts … It’s just not right. It shouldn’t be like this,” he said. “I support the homie Chris [Brown] and I support the whole movement. … This sh-t gotta change. It can’t be like this every time somebody yippin’ and yappin’ trying to get an extra buck. It turns around and it’s all bad on us. It ain’t cool.”

Additionally, Bruno Mars gave a shout-out to Brown on Twitter. “Prayin for ya @chrisbrown we need ya,” the “Uptown Funk” singer wrote.

Police Come in Contact With Brown
Tuesday, 4:30 p.m.

An LAPD officer told Us: “Police were able to obtain a search warrant and there are people inside the residence, but everyone is being cooperative.”

Brown Is Spotted for the First Time
Tuesday, 5:40 p.m.

The “Kiss Kiss” singer emerged from his home after the standoff as the West Valley Robbery Homicide Division took over the case. He was photographed smiling with police officers while wearing a white T-shirt and red baseball cap.

Curran Opens Up About Alleged Incident
Tuesday, around 7 p.m.

The former beauty pageant contestant spoke to Extra about the situation. “Chris came in, pulled out his gun and said, ‘I’m getting so sick of you people,’ pointed the gun at me, [and told me] to get the eff out of the house,” she claimed. “I took my phone and made a run for it. I fled down his driveway. I went to the left side of the street, went up a couple houses, was running. That’s when the neighbors heard the commotion and saw me out there and then called the police, and that is when I then called the police.”

Brown Is Officially Booked
Tuesday, around 8:30 p.m.

The LAPD confirmed to Us that Brown was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.

Brown Returns Home
Tuesday, 11:19 p.m.

Hours later, the “Forever” singer was released from jail on $250,000 bail. “Thanks to everyone for their support and well wishes,” his attorney, Mark Geragos, tweeted. “Chris is out and well. The allegations against him are demonstrably false #TeamBreezy.” No other information was provided. He has an upcoming court appearance on September 20.

Brown has had trouble with the law before. He pleaded guilty to assaulting his then-girlfriend Rihanna following the 2009 Grammy Awards. He completed his six years of probation last year.

Curran’s Past Comes to Light
Wednesday, August 31

Per TMZ, Curran was stripped of her Miss California Regional title in 2016 after nude photos of her surfaced. She also was accused of stealing a $1,000 Louis Vuitton purse from another woman at The Plaza Hotel in NYC years ago.
