On Wednesday, Jan. 7, Chris Evans happily leant his arm to a stunned and emotional Betty White, who was named Favorite TV Icon at the 2015 People’s Choice Awards. He escorted the shocked screen veteran to the stage inside the Nokia Theatre, where she gave a touching speech.
“Oh my goodness!” White declared. “When Melissa McCarthy came up on stage, and she said she’d stay with us as long as you’d let her — well you’ve abused the privilege with me! I cannot possibly say thank you. Can you imagine, the People’s Choice, at 93? I mean, that’s ridiculous! Thank you with all my heart.”
White, whose career has spanned seven decades, was given the honor of longest television career of a female actress in 2013 from the Guinness World Records.
Her comedy Hot in Cleveland is currently in its sixth and final season.
