Nashville's shaping up! Connie Britton and Hayden Panettiere are at the very last stages of their Nashville season 5 negotiations, and sources tell Variety it's pretty much a done deal.
As TV Line also reported on Wednesday, June 29, the fan favorites are set to return to our screens when the hit musical show moves to CMT at some point in the near future — and the even better news is they're not alone.
Charles Esten, Sam Palladio, Jonathan Jackson, Clare Bowen, Lennon Stella, Maisy Stella and Chris Carmack are all also poised to confirm their roles in the much anticipated, 22-episode fifth series.
And Variety also reports that while Will Chase and Aubrey Peeples will not be reprising their roles as series regulars Luke Wheeler and Layla Grant, there is a chance that the two actors will step back on set for a couple of guest appearances, to wrap up their story lines too!
As Us Weekly reported previously, the ABC network canceled the hugely popular show after four seasons back in May. Lionsgate Television quickly revealed on Twitter that there was still hope the show would be picked up by another network, and on Friday, June 10, its new home on CMT was announced.
The show signed season 4 off with a major cliffhanger: Panettiere's character, Juliette Barnes, went missing in a plane crash. And now it looks like fans who were unhappy with the ending will get a chance to see how the plot plays out — and this latest news suggests things are looking up for Barnes!
