Prince Harry's girlfriend Cressida Bonas is mourning the loss of her former stepfather. Christopher Shaw was reportedly found dead at the age of 76 at his rented house in Salisbury, Wiltshire on Friday, Jan. 17, multiple outlets have confirmed.
The former banker married Cressida's mother, Lady Mary Gaye Curzon, in 1996 when Cressida, now 24, was 7. The couple separated in 2000. (Her mother is the heir to the wealthy Curzon banking family while her father, Jeffrey Bonas, is an entrepreneur.)
The Mirror reports that Shaw had just returned from a holiday in Cuba and was found by his housekeeper. He reportedly had been suffering from long-term health problems, and had been taking medication for chronic kidney disease. He reportedly was told he had 18 months to live.
Police allegedly confirmed that there were no suspicious circumstances stemming from his death. The Sun, however, is reporting that the tragic loss could be an apparent suicide from an overdose of pills. The coroner is still awaiting the results of the toxicology tests.
