No beef here! Drake brought out surprise guest Eminem during his concert in Detroit on Tuesday, August 16, assuring fans once and for all that the fellow rappers aren’t in the midst of a feud, contrary to reports.
During a performance of their 2009 collaboration “Forever,” Drake, 29, stepped aside as Eminem, 43, rose from a trap door on the main stage at the Joe Louis Arena.
“Detroit, make some noise for the greatest rapper to ever get on the motherf–king microphone. He goes by the name of Eminem,” the Toronto native MC told the surprised crowd, who cheered with excitement. “Legendary s–t tonight.”
The “Lose Yourself” songwriter, whose hails from Detroit, responded, “It’s an honor to share the stage with this man right here.”
After the show, the duo posted a photo together on their respective Instagram accounts. Drake captioned the backstage shot: “SHARED THE STAGE WITH THE GOAT FOR DETROIT. DONE THE HYPE.”
The 6 God and Slim Shady’s surprise performance comes less than two weeks after Hot 97 radio host Ebro Darden claimed Eminem was preparing a dis track against Drake.
The “One Dance” crooner, however, was seemingly unfazed by Darden’s claims. The radio personality, who says he had a private conversation with Drake, told listeners on August 3, “[Drake] laughed. He was like, ‘That’s not gonna happen. He’d never do that, and if he did, I’ve got something for him too.’”
Drake is in the midst of his co-headlining Summer Sixteen Tour with Future. The pair, who collaborated on the critically acclaimed 2015 mixtape What a Time to Be Alive, will conclude the tour at New Jersey’s Prudential Center on October 16.
