Jake Gyllenhaal Debuts Man Bun, Longer Hair on Set of Nightcrawler: Picture

Jake Gyllenhaal films scenes for his new movie 'Nightcrawler'
Jake Gyllenhaal showed off a man bun to compliment his extreme weight loss on the set of Nightcrawler.

Jake Gyllenhaal is overhauling his look. The hunky actor debuted a new hairdo on the set of his new film Nightcrawler on Sunday, Oct. 13. The usually short-haired actor showed off a longer mane with his hair swept up into a bun during filming.

Gyllenhaal, 32, wore a light pink collared shirt and dark jeans as he strolled around set, sporting a gaunt frame meant to transform him into a freelance reporter in L.A. who stumbles upon the underground world of crime.

The End of Watch star has previously changed his physique for a role before, beefing up to play the lead role in 2010's Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time.

"I was paid to get in shape," he told Moviefone at the time of bulking up for the part. "The hardest thing I think was being able to get flexible, because acrobatics and stuff like that take a real flexibility…There were a lot of times it was inhibiting because normally, if you're a gymnast, you wouldn't have huge, big arms."

The actor proved that he doesn't take himself too seriously during an appearance on Queen Latifah's talk show earlier this year, however. Asked if he was popular in high school, Gyllenhaal joked that everybody "really enjoys" him all the time.

"There is not one aspect of my personality that is abhorrent, everything I do is shiny, clean . . . it's amazing. I impress myself," he joked.
