Put on a happy face! Jenelle Evans had a big smile on her face as she headed into a North Carolina courthouse on Tuesday, May 14 to attend a hearing regarding her most recent drug charges.
Dressed casually in a red shirt, ripped jeans and sneakers, the 21-year-old Teen Mom 2 star appeared to be in unusually good spirits before making her appearance at Brunswick County District Court. Evans, mom to 3-year-old son Jace, was arrested on Apr. 23 for heroin possession and one charge of assault on husband Courtland Rogers.
"Her court date has been continued by the State of N.C. until July 1, 2013," Evans' lawyer, Dustin Sullivan told Wetpaint Entertainment following her Tuesday hearing. "I anticipate that she will be indicted before that court date. No new information was given but that is typical in felony cases still in district court for us."
At the time of her arrest, the MTV star wasn't nearly as chipper as she did on Tuesday. Sullivan told Us Weekly that "she was crying" after being taken into custody on Apr. 23. "You could hear her crying in court from the other side of the courtroom," he said.
Police were called to Evans' Brunswick, North Carolina residence in response to an alleged domestic dispute, and found 12 bindles of heroin, other illegal substances and drug paraphernalia at the scene. Both Evans and Rogers were taken into custody, and Sullivan told Us they are not allowed to have any contact with each other.
"That is going to stay in place until the case is resolved or unless the judge changes that order," he said. "And I'm confident that there will not be any judge to change that order."
