Jodie Sweetin: I Snorted Meth at Olsen Twins Film Premiere

"Life isn't like a Full House episode," writes Jodie Sweetin in her explosive memoir unSweetined (out November 3). She should know. In 1995, after an eight-year run as Stephanie Tanner on the ABC hit, she spiraled into a cycle of drug abuse, including ecstasy and crystal meth. And despite having daughter Zoie in 2008 and proclaiming to People and Good Morning America that she was sober, the two-time divorcee continued to snort cocaine -- and, one reckless night, drove drunk with her baby. Now 27 and clean, Sweetin discusses the book's bombshells with Usmagazine.com.
No. 1: Sweetin got so drunk at costar Candace Cameron's wedding in 1996, she vomited and had to be carried out.
"I probably had two bottles of wine, and I was only 14. That first drink gave me the self confidence I had been searching for my whole life. But that set the pattern of the kind of drinking that I would do."
No. 2: Sweetin graduated to ecstasy in high school and cocaine in college.
"I wanted to prove that I could get more trashed than anyone. There were times I did so much coke, I'd be there laying there, getting sick and thinking 'I'm going to die.' But I didn't care."
No. 3: During the premiere for Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen's 2004 movie New York Minute, she walked the red carpet "high as a kite" and snorted meth in a bathroom stall.
"I was pulling off the deceit. It was hard for people to believe I was doing that much drugs. I look at photos from that event, and I didn't even look strung out!"
No. 4: When she was 9 months old, Sweetin was adopted. She later learned her biological mom also abused drugs and her dad was killed in a prison riot.
"I would hear stories about my mom leaving me to go off and party. And for years I was like, 'F*** her. How could somebody do that to their kid?' When I started seeing my own addiction getting in the way of being a mom, I finally understood: If you're not in the right place to get sober, you're not ready to be a mom."
Which celebs say they want to be mothers?
No. 5: Though she bragged about her sobriety to Good Morning America and People in June 2008, she was secretly still getting high.
"I was selfish, self-serving, insecure, angry and fearful person living a double life. I covered up my problems by pretending to be happy and saying that everything was fine."
No. 6: She drove drunk with her baby daughter.
"That was the big rock bottom. I had two glasses of wine and drove with her in the car. I not only put myself in danger, but also my daughter, who I loved more than anything. I felt terrible."
No. 7: She's still battling with second husband Cody Herpin for shared custody of Zoie.
"I got sober for good on December 7, 2008. I was flying to L.A. and I ended up taking a bunch of Nyquil and drinking a s---load. When I got home, I got a call that there was an emergency custody investigation because of my drinking. From that day forward, I threw myself into going to AA and avoided people who do blow off their coffee tables. We're working on a custody agreement right now. But life is good. I'm happier than I can remember."

107I'm glad the custody battle happened. Even though it took something like that to happen, atleast she realized that what she was doing needed to stop. The next step could've been death. When drugs enter your body they throw out chemicals that make you not care about anything(getting high), so luckily something was actually able to get through to her. Not everyone is that lucky. I'm happy for her. Now she can live the rest of her life happy with her baby. Way to go Jodie!
People on drugs aren't in there right mind. I'm glad the custody battle made her realize that she needed to finally stop. Even though it had to get that far, atleast she didn't keep going and die. It took something like that for her to realize that she needed to stop because drugs throw out chemicals and make you not care about anything. I'm happy for her. She can live a happy life with her baby. Way to go Jodie!
People on drugs aren't in there right mind. Thank God that she did realize enough was enough. No matter what the circumstances were. Atleast she didn't die. I'm glad that the custody thing happened, she might've never realized and then would've kept going and died. People who are on drugs don't care, because certain chemicals get unbalanced. I'm happy for her. She can have a good life now with her baby. Way to go Jodie. :)
And another thing, everyone telling her she is fine is not what she needs to hear. she needs to hear that shes a freaking retard, and drugs are not addicing, the high you get from it is. i dont feel sorry for her. she screwed up, then told everyone she was clean, and is now telling everyone that she lied and is clean now, right. sure ya are. this whole thing is pathetic, she needs money people how else is she going to get that fancy lawyer to bribe her way through the custody. you people are all just really retarded when you back her up, yes Thank God she is getting help, if thats what shes even doing. shes already lied about it, and when she reads your comments she will just feel reassured that she can do drugs and still have people support her. she needs to have someone tell her the truth, shes a long time drug abuser, she almost killed her kid, and if she really cares about her kid, she needs to allow someone who actually cares and isn't selfish to take care of her kid like her ex husband. she needs to take care of herself before trying to take care of a kid. shes even said that before, so why isn't she holding up to it.
Are you kidding me, being adopted at the age of 9 months old is an excuse for being what 30 and abusing drugs and putting her child in danger. If that were anyone else that wasn't famous that child would be put in protective services. It doesn't matter that shes sober, it took her to realize that she had a problem when her kid was being put through an emergency custody not when she almost killed her kid drunk driving. its good that shes sober, but doesn't excuse her for her past. i understand that people make mistakes like forgetting to buy milk, not "oops Im drunk and I need to drive with my kid." who cares if shes famous, if no one knew her and she wasnt famous and we heard about this everyone would be singing a different song and you know it. she doesnt deserve to have custody, their are a lot of couples who try so hard, and shes basically spitting in their faces by abusing the fact that she has a kid and then states she hates her life. why would any judge give her custody, oh yea because shes famous.
It's okay Jodi I know you said 'Life isn'T LIKE A full House episode.' But all I know is that youre still my idol what ever what, everyday I watch Full House, I watch it when I wake up from school, and when I come home from school. But like I said it;s okay I LOVE YOU!!!!!!!!!! Rolonda
jody sweetin is crazy. why would she do that to her kid
She drove drunk with her baby? Wow. And she was strung out at the Olsen twins premiere? Thats probably why they don't talk to her. She did say in an interview that they hadn't talked in a while. I hope she is telling the truth this time, if not, gets clean and sober for real this time for the sake of her daughter. You don't want your daughter to go through what you went through as a child in regards to your mother.
I love Jodie Sweetin and the whole Full House gang. I already ordered 'Unsweetined' off of Amazon, and I can't wait to read it :)
wow jodie sweetin is adopted i never know that she have a hard life her mother left her.she got drunk at 14 years old i love her.becuase we all make mistake in our life but it does'nt mean that she not a good person you got to understand her she have been trough all lot nobody its perfect god is the only one perfect.
after reading jodie sweetin's memoir, i have found respect for her. I've been probably the biggest fan of Full House for as long as I could remember. I'm only 16, so i wasnt around to actually watch it when it aired but in 5th grade, I found the love of the Full House family. Everytime my family fought, I would turn on Full House and laugh along with the Tanner family. I have all seasons, and some days thats all I watch. Jodie has always been one of my favorite actresses and I knew about her meth and alcohol addiction before reading the book. I read it in 2 days, 2 DAYS. i could not put it down. At the beginning of Jodies book she states "Before you judge me, read my story" or something like that. that made my heart grow. This girl has been through SO much and you can read the book before you judge. I love you Jodie, keep hanging in there. And her letter to her daughter is beautiful, so rare and tender. Jodie, I'm rooting for you!
Well I could careless for Jodi she made her choices time to live with them,I know all about that & I also understand how hard it is to get sober when you are young,But once you have kids if your child isn't enough to make you want to be clean and sober than I honestly think nothing will.As soon as I found out I was pregnant I did everything I was supposed and my son is healthy a wonderful.I cant look into his eyes and then even think about going back to my old life. Our kids need happy, sober, functioning parents with them at all times .This life is much more fulfilling than being out partying every night,
Quit telling everything you know!! She is sad!! : (
WHY ARE YOU PEOPLE BEING SOOOOO HARD ON HER??? AT LEAST SHE IS GETTINGHELP, UNLIKE PEOPLE LIKE MICHAEL JACKSON AND NOW HE IS DEAD AND EVERYBODY'S SO SAD NOW WHEN EVERYBOSY KNEW THAT SOMETHING WAS WRONG WITH HIM. NOW, THIS GIRL STEPS OUT AND SAYS THAT SHE HAD A PROBLEM AND EVERYBODY'S TALKING MESS ABOUT HER. THAT'S WRONG, WE ARE ALL HUMAN AND NO ONE HAS THE RIGHT TO JUDGE HER. GOOOOOOOOOO JODY, GET SOBER AND STAY SOBER. BY THE WAY, ALCOHOL IS THE TRUE GATEWAY DRUG, NOT MARIJUANA. EVERYBOSY STARTS WITH LIQUOR, NOT MARIJANE. IF GOD WAS AS JUDGEMENTAL AS YOU GUYS ARE, WE'D ALL BE DEAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Her first drug was wine? But, but the authorities tell us that pot is the gateway drug. And how can she stop any drugging without spending a few years in prison. Is it possible that drug use and addiction is a medical problem?
This is really pathetic. She's written a tell all book about what a liar and drug addict that she is/was. And for what purpose? Is anyone planning to buy this garbage?
have you ever heard bob's humor...is stand up is so raw i wont be suprised when it comes out him or dave were perves..afterall dave likes the young ones....
2 glasses of wine? Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.
what?? u dont kno sh it about drugs
October 25, 2009 - 1:47am clintonk Says: LOL! how do you get addicted to Ecstacy? its NOT addictive (unless you're a total mess or just needed something to add to the list of drugs to make it sound more dramatic to sell your books) FAIL! You're an idiot...you can get addicted to Ecstacy because most of it is cut with heroin that's why most people get really sick when they first use it before the high sets in. The reason I know this is because I use to do it...a LOT back then and almost always the "good stuff" was cut with it and would make you sick the other stuff was cut with something less potent. Thankfully I no longer do that and haven't in quite a few years.
