And that’s a wrap, mates!
After a nine-day tour of Southeast Asia and the Pacific on behalf of Queen Elizabeth II, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge concluded their Diamond Jubilee travels Wednesday — with a quick stopover in Brisbane, Australia before flying home to the UK. (The couple had flown in from the remote island of Tuvalu, where they were memorably filmed trying on decorative grass skirts, dancing with the locals and generally having a fun time.)
Duchess Kate, 30, looked stunning in a pale grey dress with a floral print as she met with officials on the red carpet on the tarmac; the brief visit marked her very first visit to Australia. She and Prince William, 30, enthralled a crowd of about 200 at the airport as they strolled through a public area of the departure lounge en route to their connecting flight to London.
“She looked amazing, she is so graceful,” Australian onlooker Shelley Jelonek (also en route to London) told Us Weekly. “It’s really impressive that they came up through the normal terminal. I have even more respect for them now.”
Added Deena Bryant: “It’s really nice for people in Australia that she is here, even if it’s only briefly . . . She always looks so comfortable and elegant.”
