Katy Perry Rocks Heart-Shaped Ring on Valentine's Day Date With John Mayer
Katy Perry is surrounding herself with love -- literally. To celebrate Valentine's Day with boyfriend John Mayer, the fun-loving pop star wore a festive red and white Alice by Temperley dress. Perry accessorized with a one-of-a-kind, heart-shaped ruby ring by Santa Barbara-based jeweler and designer Daniel Gibbings.
Because Perry wore the bauble on her engagement finger, many outlets -- including E! News and Entertainment Tonight -- wondered if Mayer had popped the question. Perry's reps had no responded to their request for comment. (Coincidentally, Mayer's ex, Jessica Simpson, received a ruby engagement ring from fiance Eric Johnson in November 2010.)
Reveling in the holiday, Perry, 28, and Mayer, 35, shared a romantic meal at The Cut in L.A.'s Brentwood neighborhood Feb. 14. The lovebirds also watched a movie at the historic Vista Theatre in East Hollywood, according to TMZ. "Happy Thursday everyone!" Perry tweeted when their date ended.
In a Feb. 10 interview with CBS This Morning, Mayer explained why his relationship with Perry feels more fulfilling than those with past girlfriends like Jennifer Aniston, Minka Kelly and Jennifer Love Hewitt.
"I don't feel like I'm in a celebrity relationship," the singer/songwriter said of dating Perry. "For the first time in my life I don't feel like I'm in a celebrity relationship. I really don't. I'm not in a high profile, I know it's high profile. It's hard to explain."
When asked if he ever plans to get married, Mayer responded, "Of course. I mean, I'm still the kid from Connecticut. That's what you do."
Perry was previously wed to British comedian Russell Brand. The two separated after 14 months in December 2011; their divorce was finalized in July 2012.
