Hashtag, memories. Kim Kardashian shared a throwback snapshot of herself and Prince via Instagram on Friday, April 22, of the awkward moment in 2011 when the “Purple Rain” singer kicked her off stage during his show at NYC's Madison Square Garden.
In the image, the legendary musician is laughing as he’s about to tell the excited reality star to scram, but Kardashian, 35, seems to look back on the incident fondly.
“I will always remember this moment with one of my favorite artists!” the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star captioned the photo. “I was so star struck I froze! RIP Prince.”
A clip of the painfully awkward incident resurfaced online recently following the untimely death of the music icon on Thursday, April 21.
In it, Prince can be seen inviting Kardashian up onstage to dance during his concert as the audience cheers and shouts. When she fails to do anything but stand around awkwardly, however, the “When Doves Cry” singer immediately does an about-face.
“Get off the stage,” he tells the Selfish author. Kardashian gives a tiny shrug and trots back to her seat.
The mom of two, who attended the show with then-fiancé Kris Humphries and BFF Jonathan Cheban, took to Twitter to explain to fans what went down.
“I was so nervous I froze when Prince touched me!!!!” she wrote, later adding, “Went up on stage AGAIN! This time I redeemed myself! We all danced while Prince played the piano! Wow! What a night!”
