Orlando Bloom’s nude pictures, which were published in the New York Daily News and the U.K.’s Daily Star on Wednesday, August 3, have officially made the late-night rounds. The actor was photographed naked while on vacation in Italy with his girlfriend, Katy Perry, and both Stephen Colbert and James Corden served up some hilarious commentary about the actor’s censored member.
The Late Late Show host Corden delivered the news about Bloom’s naked pictures with mock seriousness. “We want to talk about a big story that just broke today,” he began. “Some photos have surfaced of Orlando Bloom and the internet is going crazy for them.” He then launched into his comical bit: “Now, if you look closely at the photo, you can see Orlando Bloom, a giant oar and whatever he’s using to row with.”
The shadow on Bloom’s left leg has been the main source of fodder for jokes since the pictures were published. Corden continued, “I mean, honestly, that thing — it follows you around the room. It really does!”
The “Carpool Karaoke” host then quipped about Perry: “One week ago, Katy Perry was speaking at the Democratic National Convention. Now she’s paddleboarding with a naked Orlando Bloom. All I want to say is: If this is the kind of America Hillary Clinton is offering, I am in — full-Bloom.”
Colbert also joined in on the fun. During his Thursday, August 4, show, he began his opening monologue with a friendly reminder for viewers. “There’s nothing like a photo of Orlando Bloom paddleboarding fully naked alongside Katy Perry in a bikini in Sardinia, to remind you celebrities [are] nothing like us,” he joked.
Colbert then used a Lord of the Rings reference to sum up the actor’s nude pictures: “I’m sure there was a practical reason for paddleboarding alfresco. Perhaps he needed an extra rudder. Or maybe he’s trying to tan his little Legolas.”
The Late Show host also joked about the other pictures of Bloom, 39, which featured the star climbing rocks in the buff. The penis humor leaked into his interview with Fifty Shades Darker star Jamie Dornan, who knows Bloom “a little bit” but told Colbert, “I feel like I know him a lot better after today than I did before.”
