A-listers to the rescue!
Gone are the days of just helping elderly ladies cross the street: Lately, celebs have pitched in in major ways to help those in need -- and Us Weekly wants to highlight those good Samaritans.
Among those do-gooders: Ryan Gosling, who came to a British journalist's aid and prevented her from getting hit by a taxi in New York City -- less than a year after he singlehandedly broke up a fight between two men attempting to steal a painting in the Big Apple.
"I didn't remember to look the right way," journalist Laurie Penny wrote of the accident. "An actor happened to be passing and stopped me from getting run over by a car. I said 'thank you.' And that was that. The actor happened to be Ryan Gosling."
Gwyneth Paltrow, who unknowingly saved a woman from perishing in the 9/11 attacks, appreciated taking part in a deed some would declare heroic.
Engaging in an awkward stand-off with jaywalking pedestrian Lara Lundstrom Clarke in downtown Manhattan, Paltrow later found out that the extra time she took while driving by resulted in the woman being late for work at the World Trade Center's South Tower. By the time Clarke arrived, the first tower was already falling. "I think a lot of fates were changed that day obviously and I am very humbly happy to be a part of her story," Paltrow later said.
