Melissa Joan Hart has done a lot of kissing — and she has no problem telling! The '90s TV star may be a married, 37-year-old mother of three now, but she fondly remembers smooching some of Hollywood's hottest hunks. In a Tuesday, Nov. 12 interview with Access Hollywood, Hart spilled on her past on-screen and off-screen hookups, which she details in her talked-about new memoir, Melissa Explains It All.
Her first onscreen kiss was with Dawson's Creek star James Van Der Beek in 1993 on the TV sitcom Clarissa Explains It All. "It was really awkward and really uncomfortable," she admitted. "Just weird."
But she had much better success with Ryan Reynolds and Nick Carter. Hart made out with Reynolds while shooting Sabrina the Teenage Witch movie in 1996. "He gave me this beautiful watch and ran out of my dressing room," she recalled. "I chased him down and in the headlight of his car, I stopped him . . . and I just grabbed him and kissed him. We just made out all night . . . Ryan has grown up nicely." (Reynolds, 37, recently celebrated his one-year wedding anniversary with Blake Lively on Sept. 9.)
As for Backstreet Boys heartthrob Carter, Hart locked lips with the singer following the boy band's guest appearance on the 1996-2003 TV series Sabrina the Teenage Witch. "It was just one of those hot moments," she said. "We made out."
How does she rate current Melissa & Joey costar Joey Lawrence's kissing skills? Hart gives him credit for being obsessed with Chapstick. "He's a little bit of germaphobe, so there's not that much skin on skin contact," she explained. "[But] it's a nice little lube [for kissing]."
Hart has been married to musician Mark Wilkerson since July 2003. They are parents to three sons: Mason, 7, Braydon, 5, and Tucker, 13 months.
