Naomi Watts and Liev Schreiber aren’t letting a breakup get in the way of their friendship! The mom of two wished her ex a happy 49th birthday with a cute Instagram post Tuesday, October 4.
Watts shared a sweet photo of the Ray Donovan star carrying their two children, Alexander, 9, and Samuel, 7, and captioned it: “Happy Birthday to this one!!”
The couple only announced they were separating after 11 years together on September 26, but they seem determined to prove their split is amicable.
Just last week Watts celebrated turning 48, and after posting a throwback photo of herself as a toddler, Liev left a heartfelt message.
“Happy Birthday Sweetheart,” he wrote beneath the black-and-white picture of her in a pram.
Their breakup was confirmed to Us Weekly via a statement: “Over the past few months we've come to the conclusion that the best way forward for us as a family is to separate as a couple. It is with great love, respect and friendship in our hearts that we look forward to raising our children together and exploring this new phase of our relationship,” their joint statement read. “While we appreciate your curiosity and support, we ask the press to be mindful of our children and respect their right to privacy.”
The pair began dating in 2005 but never married, despite having two sons together.
