Blushing over Daenerys! Game of Thrones fanatic Nick Jonas couldn’t stay away when he heard that Emilia Clarke would be appearing on BBC Radio 1’s Breakfast Show on Thursday, June 2. The “Close” singer crashed the actress’ interview and revealed that the two had already met once before. Unfortunately, their first interaction didn’t go so well.
“I’ve actually already met Emilia at the Oscars afterparty. But it wasn’t like, ‘I’m a fan of the show.’ Actually, that was a part of it, but I was like, ‘I’m also a fan of your Instagram.’ Which I don’t know if it is a weird thing to say,” Jonas, 23, recalled to host Nick Grimshaw.
“She posts great stuff — like insight into the show, behind-the-scenes pictures and stuff,” he added. “I immediately walked away and was like, ‘That sounded stupid.’ That was maybe after one or two cocktails that I said that. It was highly embarrassing.”
Clarke, 29, couldn’t disagree more. “I found it very flattering,” she gushed. “I’m proud of my Instagram.”
Grimshaw then joked that Jonas should join Clarke’s HBO series. The Me Before You actress agreed and reached out to GoT creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss on the spot.
“I don’t think they would hire me,” Jonas said.
Clarke replied, “True story: I’m going to e-mail them now. I will. ‘Listen: He’s open to dyeing his hair Targaryen-blond.’ Right?”
Jonas joked, “absolutely,” before Clarke chimed in: “There we go. You can ride a dragon, honey!”
