Gwyneth Paltrow surrounds herself with the people she loves most — namely Chris Martin and Cameron Diaz!
The casually-dressed trio chatted over sushi and drinks at Sugar Fish in L.A.'s Brentwood neighborhood Oct. 22. After about an hour, Bad Teacher star Diaz, 40, drove away in her Aston Martin, while the spouses of nearly nine years drove home in their own car. (Martin, 35, and Paltrow, 40, are parents to daughter Apple, 8, and son Moses, 6.)
A source recently told Us Weekly that Paltrow has been growing closer to Diaz as her 10-year friendship with Madonna, 54, deteriorates. "Gwyneth is a nurturer," a source explained. "Cameron is bummed about being single, so Gwyneth sees her as a project. She's trying to set her up with guys!"
The blondes are also good friends with E!'s resident funnywoman Chelsea Handler, 37; the duo recently filmed a video for Chelsea Lately in which Diaz beatboxed and Paltrow rapped about Handler's love life.
"Cameron needs a good friend," a source explained.
At Paltrow's pal Tracy Anderson's Pregnancy Project event supporting Every Mother Counts in New York City Oct. 5, the Iron Man 3 actress spoke about what turning 40 in late September meant to her. "I feel really happy and content with my life," Paltrow told reporters. "I'm excited to move into the next phase. It's much more exciting than I thought it would be."
