I’ve got you, my dear! Prince William offered Duchess Kate a helping hand as they arrived in Vancouver, British Columbia, via seaplane on Sunday, September 25. Though she didn’t ultimately need his assistance, she gave him a huge smile as she stepped off the 18-seater plane.
The royal pair had flown in from Victoria, Canada, on the second day of their Canadian tour when William, 34, showed his chivalrous nature by attempting to help his wife down from the plane. He later put a protective hand on her back as they departed.
Kate, 34, donned a stunning red-and-white print Alexander McQueen dress and a Mulberry clutch for the trip, topping off her look with a pair of bright red pumps. William, meanwhile, looked dapper in a simple black suit and white shirt.
“It was very smooth flying,” a royal aide told Us of the couple's seaplane travel. “They spent a lot [of time] looking out of the window and talking to the pilot. The duke was very interested in the landing and the different conditions they work in.”
“They spent a lot of time looking at the incredible views from both sides of the plane,” the aide added.
Once the duke and duchess landed, they were greeted by a crowd of thousands hoping to catch a glimpse of the photogenic royals, as well as Christy Clark, the premier of British Columbia.
William and Kate were in town to visit Sheway, an outreach program that provides support to pregnant women and women with infants under 18 months who are dealing with drug and alcohol issues. The pair also plan to visit the Immigrant Services Society, a charity that assists both immigrants and refugees.
They will return to Government House, where their children, Prince George, 3, and Princess Charlotte, 16 months, were waiting, on Sunday evening. It is Charlotte's first overseas tour, and she and her big brother stole the show when they touched down in Victoria with their parents on Saturday.
The children are expected to join their parents in a public appearance later this week before the family flies back to the U.K. on Saturday, October 1.
