Report: Ugly Betty Actor Murdered Mother with Samurai Sword
Ugly Betty actor Michael Brea is accused of killing his mother with a samurai sword while screaming passages from the Bible, CBS News and other outlets reported Tuesday. Citing police reports, TMZ says that Michael cut off the head of mother Yannick Brea, 55.

Brea, 31, is said to have gone on a religious rant, commanding his mother to "repent" before stabbing her to death in their Brooklyn, New York home.
Police told NY1 that Michael was holding a Bible when police arrived on the scene.
A neighbor, Gregory Clarke, told WPIX he overheard the melee. "I hear the brother chasing her [his mother] through the house and he's just saying a bunch of like [Bible] passages like, 'Repent, Repent, Repent.'"

The Haitian-American actor has appeared on Ugly Betty as well as Step-Up 3-D. Following the police's grisly discovery, he was arrested and taken to Kings County Hospital for psychiatric evaluation.
"I would say he was a down-to-earth, cool. hard working person," another neighbor told NY1 of the actor. "I couldn't see this coming at all."

Although we need more information it would seem that Michael Brea is suffering from Paranoid Schizophrenia. The disorder usually strikes young men such as Mr.Brea. I can also state that a small percentage of people who suffer with this commit violent acts. The loss of reality, hallucinations and "voices" has caused this horrible act.It is a pity that Mr. Brea was not treated in the early stages and the victim would have been saved from this awful death.

A man that uses religion to justify KILLING his mother is not possessed by 'the spirit' but by 'a spirit'. I am fairly well versed on many subjects and I don't remember anywhere where someone says 'repent, repent, repent' except maybe Jonah who told the citizens of Nineveh they were going to tank if they did not get their act together. Merciless and ruthless society. They did repent but went back to their old ways and I believe 30 years later the entire civilization was wiped off the face of the earth. Proof? Has anyone seen a Ninevite lately, or an Amorite, or an Amelekite (sic)? Some might say, damn religious zealots but that was not the case with the Ninevites. They used to capture people and skin them alive in front of all watchers, they used to gouge their eyes out and remove their body parts while they were still alive. Mind you, they did it in front of women and children. It was certainly a lesson but God said enough was enough and the armies of _____ took them out. That is really sad.......
