Time really does heal all wounds! Rosie O’Donnell posted a selfie with her formerly estranged daughter, Chelsea, to Instagram on Thursday, August 18, noting how much better their relationship had gotten in just a year’s time.

“Chelsea and me — what a difference a year makes #hopelives,” the 54-year-old comedian captioned a close-up shot of the two together. In it, O’Donnell has a more subdued expression while Chelsea, 18, smiles brightly for the camera.

The mother-daughter pair seems to have put the past behind them, and have stepped out in public together in recent months, a vast departure from their volatile relationship last summer.

In August 2015, Chelsea went missing briefly, prompting Rosie to issue an alert on her website and on social media to find the then 17-year-old. Chelsea was later discovered with a 25-year-old man whom she’d met on Tinder.

Then, in October, once she legally became an adult, Chelsea opted to live with her birth mother and bashed her adopted mother in a tell-all interview with The Daily Mail.

“[It’s] heartbreaking on every level,” O’Donnell’s rep told Us Weekly in a statement at the time. A source close to the former View cohost added that Rosie was “extremely depressed.”

The two have apparently been working on their relationship since then, and in June, the pair posed for photos together at Fran Drescher’s Cancer Schmancer Cabaret Cruise, and even performed a duet of the song “Alexander Hamilton” from the smash Broadway hit.
