Sore ego? Salma Hayek implied during a radio interview with El Show del Mandril on Radio Centro 93.9 on Friday, October 21, that Donald Trump may have leaked a false story about her after she denied him a date, BuzzFeed reports.
“When I met that man, I had a boyfriend, and he tried to become his friend to get my home telephone number,” Hayek recalled, in Spanish, of when she was first breaking out in Hollywood. “He got my number and he would call me to invite me out.”
According to BuzzFeed, Hayek suggested that Trump felt disrespected after she turned him down and that he may have fed the National Enquirer a false story about her.
“He wouldn’t say he called, but someone told the National Enquirer,” Hayek said on Friday. “Someone told the National Enquirer — I’m not going to say who because you know that whatever he wants to come out, comes out in the National Enquirer. It said that he wouldn’t go out with me because I was too short.”
According to the actress, Trump still tried to pursue her even after the story had been published.
“Later, he called and left me a message. ‘Can you believe this? Who would say this? I don’t want people to think this about you.’ He thought that I would try to go out with him so people wouldn’t think that’s why he wouldn’t go out with me,” she concluded of the controversial businessman.
Hayek isn’t shy about voicing her disapproval for the Republican presidential candidate. During an August appearance on The Late Late Show With James Corden, the Hillary Clinton supporter said that Trump should borrow her copy of U.S. History for Dummies.
