Now this is "Naturally" a narrative! Selena Gomez dropped the brand-new music video for her latest single, "Same Old Love," on Tuesday, Sept. 22, and the catchy tune is accompanied by a quality tale.
The opening scene in the video shows Gomez in a black gown covered up in a billowy white sweater. She hops into her car service, and people-watches with wonder as she cruises to her destination. Along the way, she witnesses different forms of love, heartache, and everything in between.
The former Disney star, 23, sees a weeping single mom with her car packed and her kids in tow as she leaves her husband. In a slight moment of hope, the mother's young son places his hand on hers to comfort his weeping parent.
Gomez then views a man yelling in his car, a young couple making out, and a married pair looking tense and staring ahead at the road.
She then heads down to the club, only to reemerge back into the streets to witness more forms of that "same old love."
In her chorus, Gomez croons that she's "sick of the same old love" and adds, "That sh–, it tears me up."
The songstress — who famously dated Justin Bieber on and off for several years — recently opened up to Elle about her turbulent love life, and about Bieber in particular. "I'll forever support him and love him in a way," she told the mag. "We grew up together. I think people want it to be different."
The singer also noted that her emotional track wasn't necessarily directed at the "What Do You Mean" crooner, 21. "[It’s] not necessarily about a specific relationship,” she explained. “Sometimes you're stuck in the same cycle. This is kind of my 'forget it' song. I'm sick of all of it.”
