Congratulations! Odd Mom Out actress Abby Elliott married House of Cards writer Bill Kennedy in a romantic wedding ceremony on Saturday, September 3.
The happy couple tied the knot in front of their closest friends and family members. The actress’ costar Jill Kargman confirmed the news with a sweet Instagram photo of the newlyweds on Saturday afternoon.
“Ode to joy! @lilcutieforever @thebillkennedy #weddedbliss,” Kargman captioned the black-and-white shot of the duo.
Martha Stewart Weddings helped the couple with planning their nuptials in Eastern Connecticut, which kicked off with a Catholic ceremony in front of almost 200 guests. The reception was held at Elliott’s parents’ house and featured a red, white and blue color theme in acknowledgement of the holiday weekend, and her sister, Bridey Elliott, performed at the celebration.
The bride wore a lace and tulle Leanne Marshall gown, while the groom was dressed in a custom blue linen suit by Duca Sartoria.
The couple — who first met on set of the 2014 comedy Sex Ed, a movie Kennedy wrote and Elliott starred in — got engaged in October 2015. The actress shared the exciting news on Instagram at the time, writing, “Goin to the chapel!”
The Saturday Night Live alum later shared the story of her beau’s sweet proposal during an interview with The Knot. “We’ve been dating for a year and a half, I think. It was a surprise,” she told the news outlet in January. “He did it in our apartment and it was beautiful. There were flowers [and candles] everywhere.”
The comedienne, who is the daughter of SNL alum Chris Elliott, continued, “It was really beautiful and he was traditional and got down on one knee. It was just very simple, but lovely and wonderful.”
The Netflix writer, who asked Elliott’s parents for permission before proposing, presented his love with an engagement ring that once belonged to his grandmother.
