Solange Knowles, Rachel Roy Avoid Each Other at CFDA Awards
Awkward! Solange Knowles and designer Rachel Roy made a point to avoid one another at the Council of Fashion Designers of America awards in New York City on June 2. Solange infamously attacked her sister Beyonce's husband, Jay Z, back on May 5 after the Met Gala after spotting the rapper and the designer flirting, a source told Us Weekly at the time.
"Solange yelled about Rachel on Beyonce's behalf, asking Jay, 'How could you treat my sister like that?'" the source said. "Solange walked up and started screaming at Rachel. She was making a big scene." (A Roy source countered that she and Jay Z didn't even speak that evening.)
On Monday, however, the two kept a further distance from one another. An eyewitness tells Us, Roy attended the event with John Legend's wife Chrissy Teigen while Solange, who wore a custom Calvin Klein Collection embellished pewter silk dress, attended the event with Francisco Costa, the brand's Women’s Creative Director.
"Rachel looked uncomfortable," the source tells Us. "They obviously didn't want to run into Solange, and Solange's people also tried to steer clear of them."
Jay Z and Solange have since mended any issues after she punched and kicked him in an elevator. "At the end of the day families have problems and we're no different," they released in a joint statement. "We love each other and above all we are family. We've put this behind us and hope everyone else will do the same."
