Apparently Senator Ted Cruz is hip with the times! The Texas senator, 44, announced his presidential bid via Twitter at midnight on Monday, March 23.
Teasing the message in an earlier tweet, the Republican wrote, “Tonight around midnight there will be some news you won’t want to miss. Stay tuned…”
As promised, the outspoken senator later posted a 30-second clip with the caption, “I’m running for President and I hope to earn your support!”

In the video spot, Cruz uses a voiceover to inspire his supporters as he showed clips from major cities around America.
“It’s going to take a new generation of courageous conservatives to help make America great again, and I’m ready to stand with you to lead the fight,” he said.
Cruz is the first Hispanic, Cuban American citizen to serve as a U.S. senator from Texas.
