Nobody comes between Bachelorette fans and an all-new episode. Not even Bernie Sanders. The Vermont senator became the target of a Twitter storm of outrage after his speech at the Democratic National Convention ran long on Monday, July 25, and cut into the screening of the hit ABC dating show.
Bachelorette host Chris Harrison predicted there might be a problem with the DNC running over and tweeted a warning to Bachelorette Nation earlier on Monday. "Check local listings cause I'm guessing the #DNC will hijack up #TheBachelorette time in many cities," he tweeted. "Some things are even out of my control."
That prompted one fan to reply, "@chrisbharrison you must become president to fix this injustice."
But as the former Democratic presidential contender's speech ran long, fans began to fret that they would miss out on JoJo Fletcher's all-important rose ceremony and find out who was eliminated.
"Bernie only has 13 minutes to speak because I need to know what happens in the fantasy suite," one tweeted.
As the start time for episode came and went and Sanders was still on screen, the tweets began to fly.
"I think Kanye needs to interrupt Bernie to let him know The Bachelorette is on tonight," wrote one fan, referring to Kanye West's infamous interruption of Taylor Swift at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards.
"Bernie ima let you finish but you're five minutes into the Bachelorette and we all need to know who Jojo is gonna eliminate," another demanded.
"Hey ABC get your priorities straight. JoJo > Bernie," tweeted another fan.
