Prince William and Duchess Kate have spent most of their time together as newlyweds in the spotlight. But now that the royals have completed their first official tour, they're planning on staying out of the public eye for a while.
"The Duke and Duchess are planning to slip under the radar, undertaking only a handful of duties for the rest of the year," a royal spokesman tells Us Weekly. "[Her Majesty the Queen and Prince Philip] are supportive of their decision."
William, 29, and Kate, also 29, "are very conscious to make sure the run-up to 2012 is the Queen's year," the spokesman adds. "[Queen Elizabeth] quite rightly should be in the spotlight."
A pal of Kate's says she and her hubby "plan to just settle down in Anglesey. It will be the first time they have truly done so."
According to the couple's spokesman, Will and Kate are planning to do "no more than one or two engagements a month in autumn and winter."
