The whole issue of succession and who is "royal " and who isnt is not going to be understood in the same way by those from a country where "royalty " was god rid off hundreds of yrs ago, its far too complex a subject to fighting over it on here. we have an unwritten constitution in the uk no "Declaration of independence" so its better to just leave it as a wedding with royals in the mix..

Oh Bea.....I think I know British history better than you and I don't have to give you "credentials". Prince Edward's children are actually Princess Louise and Prince James. No letters patent were issued to remove the HRH style and prince/princess rank from them. If you had actually studied this you would know the difference between style and title. They are syled as the children of an Earl so they are known as Lady Louise and James takes his father's lesser title of Viscount Severn. Legally, they are HRH Princess Louise and HRH Prince James because their father is and HRH and the Letter Patent issues by their great-grandfather says grandchildren of the soverign born of males children are hrh's unless. This only changes if the Queen issues a letter patent. It's like Camilla. She is actually The Princess Of Wales but doesn't use the title because of Diana's memory. She uses The Duchess of Cornwall instead.

zara & peter have CENTURIES of royal blood in their veins. The Queen did bestow ANY titles on them per Princess Anne's request. Not even a count or countess. Prince Edward's children were not bestowed the HRH titles either as requested, but the daughter was bestowed the title of Lady & her brother the Viscount Severn. Mary,as a history major, I suggest you read a history of the British Monarchy to get your facts straight. it's about 800+ pages long. i hope you understand it.

When The Princess Anne, Princess Royal married Mark Philips in 1973, The Queen was believed to have offered him a peerage on his wedding day, which he turned down. This may also have been the specific wish of Princess Anne. (As female-line grandchildren of the Sovereign, Princess Anne's children were never eligible for the style "Royal Highness" or the title "Prince/Princess" under the terms of George V's letters patent of 1917) When Peter Philips was born, his parents were said to have refused offers from The Queen that would have led to him being born in the Peerage. As such, Phillips was the first royal baby to be born a commoner, having not even a courtesy style, for more than 500 years. The same situation applied to Zara Phillips when she was born four years later.

Wow Mary you must be a true loser and very proud. Zara is in the royal family get over it and you saying she is only part of the Queens family is the most ignorant thing ever! The Queen and her husband Prince Phillip come from the British royal family even though he has Greek roots, her mom is a Princess and just because her dad doesn't have a title and her parents CHOSE FOR THEM TO NOT HAVE A ROYAL TITLE doesn't make her excluded from her own family stupid s h i t. Maybe you're just very insecure and wish you were happy, beautiful, successful, and ROYAL like her.

  • July 30, 2011 - 7:28pm Mary Smith

Theresa, they aren't royal but that's okay. If you were actually British you would know that titles do not pass through the female line. It was Princess Anne's first husband and father of Peter and Zara who refused a title when he married Princess Anne thus refusing a title for any children born, which were Zara and Peter.

  • July 30, 2011 - 7:28pm Jane Drake

I completely agree with you Ana. Big deal she doesn't have a royal title, but if something happened to the 12 people in front of her she would be the next Queen. Looks like you need some therapy to work out your royal issues.
