Zoolander 2 Trailer Dives Into the Really, Really Ridiculously Stupid Mind of Derek Zoolander

Did somebody say ridiculously good looking? Ben Stiller is back as Derek Zoolander in the newly released trailer for Zoolander 2, and if the sneak peek is any indication, the male model comedy has only gotten funnier over time.

The two-minute trailer, released on Sunday, Aug. 2, kicks off with a Stephen Hawkings voiceover that deep-dives into Zoolander’s brain, zooming in from an existential point of view.

“In the beginning, there was nothing,” the voiceover begins. “An infinite void. Then, in an instant, everything on command came into being.”

The trailer then takes a turn straight into the tiny, pulsing mind of the male model, in a hilarious collage that includes mermen, the equation “3+4=34,” and a dictionary definition for the term “eugoogly.” (In the first film, Zoolander mispronounces the word “eulogy.”)

But, the voiceover explains, all these things have led to this, “the one question that has puzzled mankind since the beginning of time: If God exists, why did he make ugly people?”

Stiller, 49, as Zoolander, then turns to the camera with his classic “Blue Steel” facial expression.

The actor and pal Owen Wilson first announced the upcoming sequel — due out in February 2016 — during Paris Fashion Week in March. The duo, who played rival male models in the original, stomped it out in character at the Valentino fashion show, and even later posed backstage with Anna Wintour.

The film will also star Cyrus Arnold as Zoolander’s son, as well as Stiller’s real-life wife, Christine Taylor, as his wife Matilda.
