  Look at the cake. It's store-bought. He probably went to the store and picked up a cake, asking the baker to write "Happy Birthday, Cara and Mady" and they spelled it "Maddy". That isn't his fault. He was buying a cake to make them happy.

  An example of how to misspell names... my sons name is Dillon, yet his father till today spells it Dillion. Its not even pronounced the same way.   In my opinion there is to much drama about small issues. Give Jon a break, he showed up at the party with the cake to make the kids happy on their birthday. Kate on the other hand needs to come down to earth. It's not all about her. Jon and Kate needs to come together raising their children putting their best interest at heart. They don't realize how blessed they are with such healthy and beautiful children.

  To Rolyn the idiot: No, the parent doesn't always write things down for the stores. Most of the time the bakery's cake decorator or whomever taking the order is the one who writes things down. Maybe he didn't take the time out to say how it's spelled, but it was up to the moron making the cake to cake. Not only that, but maybe he DID give them the right spelling and they recognized him so they messed it up on purpose to make him look bad to the media, and then he discovered it when he picked it up, but didn't have the time for them to correct and just said screw it and went about his day

  How many time have we picked up a birthday cake and headed out with it. I could imagine Jon picking it up and taking it directly to the party, at least no one can say he didn't do that! Get realllllllll, People. Open the box and there it is the idiot who decorated the cake spelled it wrong, NOT Jon!

  My husband mispelled his daughter's name in CEMENT! It's a token of his love when he realized(too late) yet tried to change it...28 years later we still have that cement slab and smile(my daughter and I)remembering that day! I believe Jon did not put this on the cake himself...still a simple "silly" mistake!

  It would be nice if they both grew up and got their shxx together. I look at another couple the same age and they have it all over these two, but of course they don't have 8 kids and that is no easy chore plus being in the public eye. Hopefully they will assess the situation and start to mature and buy each other a nice present from their heart for Christmas.

  omg, this is crazy, the poor guy just could not live with her anymore, i give her credit for taking on the job most of the time but yes she is getting paid to do it also, i don't get paid to take care of my kids and i have no husband no more. Jon always helped and yes did most of the work, people are jealous they should leave him alone, with out kate there barking at him all the time he probably has a little time to think. the cake thing is so stupid for yous to be fighting over, it could of been fixed easily enough at times i have done the same, especially when i was in a hurry. grow up people.

  Uhm "H" what are you? Challenged? Of cocurse the store does the calligraphy. But it is BASED on the what the customer wants and writes down. The customer in this case, Jon, has to spell out the name in order for them to ice the cake. The store, as for as we know, followed his instructions. It is fairly obvious that HE made the mistake or HE would not have accepted and served that cake. He didn't even realize his error! So 'H", think twice please before you try and make others look like a fool..because you might just end up doing it to yourself...again!
