“Let’s not ignore the elephant in the room,” the singer, 28, told her fans during the second stop of a six-night run at the famed Manhattan arena. “Did everybody hear about Brad and Angelina? It feels like the end of an era, so I’m dedicating this show tonight to them.”
“I know — I don’t like all the gossip, and personal lives are private,” she admitted. But she added, “I woke up this morning, and I was shocked.”
The Grammy winner pointed out that she doesn’t actually know the pair personally, but just that their breakup had brought up a lot of feelings for her.
As Us Weekly previously reported, Jolie, 41, filed for divorce from Pitt, 52, on Monday, September 19, after two years of marriage, citing irreconcilable differences. The Salt star is requesting physical custody of their six children, Maddox, 15, Pax, 12, Zahara, 11, Shiloh, 10, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 8.
A source told Us that the couple have butted heads over parenting techniques for their kids, while another insider revealed that the twosome had heated discussions about politics.
A third source told Us that the Moneyball star was blindsided by the divorce, as he didn’t find out about it until the day Jolie filed the paperwork.
