Adele to Undergo Surgery, Cancels All Shows, Appearances for Year
Get well, Adele!
Plagued with throat problems (and cancelled tour dates) throughout 2011, the acclaimed, multiplatinum British soul singer, 23, will undergo surgery soon -- which means that the rest of her planned concerts and appearances for the year have been scrapped.
"It is with deep regret that Adele has been forced to cancel her remaining live dates and promotional appearances in 2011," a statement on her website read Friday.
"She is to undergo surgery to alleviate the current issues with her throat and a full recovery is expected. As a result, doctors have ordered her to rest her voice and completely recuperate before looking to schedule any work commitments."
Most recently, the "Someone Like You" singer was given a doctors' order of vocal rest for a bout with laryngitis; her prize-winning vocal chords failed to heal.
Adele will likely be recuperated and singing again on Feb. 12 -- the date of the Grammy Awards, where the superstar is expected to dominate in the nominations for her album 21.
