Finally hitting her rebellious phase? Amy Roloff shocks son Zach by telling him that she’s getting a tattoo in Little People, Big World‘s Tuesday, July 5 episode, as seen in Us Weekly‘s exclusive sneak peek.
The TLC series’ preview clip shows Amy, 51, choosing Zach, 26, as the first family member with whom to break her body-art news. The moment provides a bit of levity for the family members, who have struggled this season to get back to normal following Amy and Matt‘s split. The pair filed for divorce in 2015, after 27 years of marriage, and was finalized in May 2016, although the family continues to run their farm together.
“You know, when I was 50, I always thought about doing this,” Amy tells Zach. “I’m thinking about getting a tattoo. … It’s kind of radical.”
Zach is stunned by his mom’s bombshell and doesn’t know how to respond.
She tells the camera, “I think I was a little surprised at his reaction at being so surprised, but part of me isn’t. I don’t think he particularly cares for tattoos.”
Zach explains to the camera, “I don’t know — just do what you got to do, Mom. Both of my parents are just in their own little worlds lately, and they’re both doing some funky things, so whatever they need to do to feel good about themselves.”
He adds to his mom, “Just make sure you’re doing it for the right reasons.”
