Bachelorette contestant Chris — the Corporate Sales Director from Illinois — is sick of the barbs being directed at him because of his age.

After single dad Doug told the 25-year-old he questioned whether the contestant was ready for the level of commitment being a father and husband involves, a deeply offended Chris decided to reaffirm his commitment to Emily Maynard before the rose ceremony.

"I'm ready to be a husband, I'm ready to be a father . . . I'm ready for both of those things, and it upsets me when someone says that [I'm not]," Chris told Maynard, 26.

When the mom to Ricki, 6, pressed him for more, Chris still chose not to identify the contestant he had butted heads with. Instead, he admitted that he believes it's the quality of the life experiences one has had, rather than the quantity, that matters most.

"I think [life] is what you take out of it," he told a sympathetic Maynard.

His heartfelt tete a tete with the Bachelorette paid off in the end, earning him a rose during the elimination ceremony.
